Apple Bread




  • 1 c wholemeal flour
  • 1 c plain flour
  • 1/2 c oat bran
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 3/4 c EasiYo Natural Yogurt
  • 1/2 c golden syrup
  • 3 T vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence



  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large bowl sift both kids of flour.
  • Add the oat bran, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon.
  • Stir in the walnuts and chopped apples.
  • In another bowl combine the egg, yogurt, golden syrup, oil and vanilla essence.
  • Pour the liquid ingredients over the flour mixture and stir to combine - do not over-mix.
  • Lightly grease a loaf tin.
  • Pour in the batter and bake for about 1 hour or until a cake skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes.
  • Turn onto a wire rack to further cool.
